Highway 32 closed due to wildfire
06/30/08
Cal Trans has advised that State Route 32 is now closed from the Junction of SR 36 in Tehama County to .5 mile south of the Tehama / Butte County Line due to fire. The closure is necessary because of wildfires burning down to, and, by at least one account, on both sides of the highway.
There is no estimate of when the highway will re-open. The best alternate access between the Almanor basin and the Sacramento Valley is Highway 36. Highway 70 is open with controlled traffic (updated 7/1/08). See related article.

New fire near Greenville
06/27/08 Update:
From her home directly under the Keddie Fire, Indian Valley Editor Alicia Knadler, at 9 a.m., saw several engines and small tankers heading up to continue mop-up efforts of the fire that was 100-percent contained by 2 p.m., yesterday.
Although several residents assumed the fire was caused by lightning, that is not the case according to Forest Service Information Officer LeeAnne Schramel. Patrols of the area will continue. For more about this story, pick up a copy of one of Feather Publishing's hometown weekly newspapers on Wednesday.
